The Antenna - Buy or Build? Ham radio has changed over the years...Do you still build antenna's, or do you buy a commercial product?
[98 votes since 2008-11-20]
I still build my all my own...
No time/inclination to build, I buy commercial...
My station uses a combination of both...
I'm an Experimenter, always constructing/trying something new...
I'd love to build, but for reasons, I can't...
I have a limited income, I HAVE to Build!

Spotlight The Wireless Bunker of N3MMH
The Wireless Bunker of N3MMH Greetings! Originally licensed December 2003 as KB3KNV. Then in August of 2004, I changed to my vanity callsign that was my (SK) Grandfathers call, Daniel McLaughlin. I was lucky enough to get some of his equipment and will always be greatful to him for infecting me with the hobby. I thought it would be my little tribute to him by keeping his call in the family. Rigs include Kenwood TM-G707 Dual Band (currently running mobile), an Icom 706MKIIG with an LDG Electronics AT-200Pro auto tuner, Icom IC-V8000 and a Kenwood TS-140S HF connected to the MFJ-949E Versa Tuner II. For polluting the RF spectrum and depending on band conditions, I use either an Inverted "V" configured Radio Waves G5RV Lite (80m-6m) or a Maldol HVU-8. For 2m/70cm I use a Comet GP6. The mic is a Shure 55SH Series II going into a Eurorack UB802 mixer. All QSL's will be gladly accepted and returned in kind. Cheers & 73!

DXCC Status
A contributor states, "Currently there are only two countries that do not issue Amateur Radio licenses to their citizens, Yemen and North Korea. Thousand of deserving Ham's worldwide who enjoy working DX are shut out of any hope of obtaining the #1 Top of the Honor Roll status due to this. It would seem rational that these two countries (and any others who take a similar position) should be deleted from the official DXCC list in view of this. Why recognize a country on the DXCC list that does not recognize Amateur Radio? What say you?"
