Collins 30S-1 BIG Brother

My Collins 204F-1 is basically the big brother to the 30S-1 in many regards. Planned to go back on the air during the Winter of 2004-2005 interfaced to one of my TS-930S transsceivers. Cable connections and Antenna parts being off I know can create an erratic SWR with Trap Vertical and other Antennas. What might be any possible other causes? Weather?
