N3WDZ's homebrew mobile mount
|
|
|
The 1999 Chevy Astro has few places to
neatly mount radios, so I constructed this
tower out of plywood to house up to 3 rigs.
The tower is bolted to an aluminum plate
that is bolted between the two front seats.
The rigs bolt to wooden slats which slide
in on grooves routed in the tower. Makes it
easy to take the radios in and out when
needed.
Rigs are Yaesu FT-7800 2m/440 on top and
Yaesu FT-857 HF on bottom. The '7800 stays
in all the time, and the '857 is there on long
trips. Next thing to do is install a DC power
panel wired to the battery to replace the cig
adapter temporary setup.
